Image
Back in 2008, a young Savannah Guthrie was working as a White House correspondent for NBC when Today sent her to Crawford, Texas, to cover Jenna Bush Hager ’s wedding to her now-husband, Henry . “I was outside with fake hay bales,” Guthrie recalls with a giggle, confessing that she had very little intel on the couple or the event. “[I was] reporting about Jenna and Henry with no information. We’ve watched it back together and laughed,” she adds. “Jenna’s like, ‘Oh, my gosh, you didn’t know anything!’” The Arizona native, 53, never imagined that some 16 years later, she’d be working with Hager — whom she calls “one of her closest friends” — or that she’d be a coanchor on TV’s most popular morning show. “I still have ‘pinch me’ moments,” says the mom of two (she shares daughter Vale, 10, and son Charley, 8, with her husband of nearly 11 years , consultant Michael Feldman ). “Most days, when I walk in and see the plaza all lit up, I can’t believe it’s me. I grew up watching these show...

Bachelor Grant Ellis Fell in Love With 2 Women — So How Did He Choose?

Image
He couldn’t have gotten a tribal tattoo like every other guy? No, the most telling sign that Grant Ellis wouldn’t follow the usual trajectory as the Bachelor was the “lone wolf” inked on his forearm: “It symbolizes being alone,” he explained — and it’s about as far as you can get from a Neil Lane diamond . But somehow, in season 29, multiple love stories have unfolded for the 31-year-old basketball pro turned day trader. And on the eve of hometown dates, Us looks ahead to the blockbuster finale teased in the trailer, where it appears he is so torn between his last two contestants that he’s still unsure one hour before cameras roll on his final rose ceremony . The sincere and sometimes silly Ellis, who first appeared on Jenn Tran ’s season of The Bachelorette in summer 2024, faced the ultimate decision, which he describes to Us as not the hardest but “the most important” of his life. The dilemma: Go with what his head was telling him … or what his heart was feeling? “When you inte...

Justin Bieber's Rep Addresses 'Harmful' Rumors Singer Is Using Drugs

Image
A rep for Justin Bieber is speaking out amid widespread concern for the singer’s well-being. The representative told TMZ on Sunday, February 23, that rumors about Bieber using hard drugs are “absolutely not true,” calling the speculation “exhausting and pitiful.” Per the rep, the chatter about Bieber’s mental health “shows that despite the obvious truth, people are committed to keeping negative, salacious, harmful narratives alive.” The past year has been “very transformative” for Bieber, who “ended several close friendships and business relationships that no longer served him.” A source exclusively told Us Weekly earlier this month that Bieber, 30, is “happier than he’s been in a long time” despite raising eyebrows with his behavior and recent outings. “There’s no breakdown,” the insider added, noting that the pop star “just really doesn’t care what people think.” Justin Bieber’s Most Honest Quotes About His Mental Health Struggles Justin initially sparked concern in January ...

From Ariana Grande to Emma Stone: Celebs Are Ditching Their Stage Names

Image
Ariana Grande, Emma Stone. Getty Images (2) What’s in a name? Apparently a lot for these Hollywood stars, who’ve been bidding adieu to their famous monikers. For as long as most can remember, stage names have been a common practice in Hollywood. Judy Garland (born Frances Ethel Gumm) changed her moniker to appear more theatrical. Elton John (a.k.a. Reginald Kenneth Dwight) ditched his legal name in his 20s in hopes of standing out from the crowd. Katy Perry tweaked her surname (Katheryn Hudson) to avoid being confused with actress Kate Hudson . Even Reese Witherspoon opted to drop her first name, Laura Jeanne, in favor of her mother’s maiden name before she broke onto the scene. But lately, we’ve seen a rise in mega-successful stars ditching the names that made them famous. On January 31, The Weeknd (a.k.a. Abel Tesfaye) released his album Hurry Up Tomorrow , which marked the end of his After Hours trilogy — and his pseudonym. “It’s a headspace I’ve gotta get into that I ju...

Image
Matthew McConaughey, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, Britney Spears Cedric Ribeiro/Getty Images ; Karwai Tang/WireImage ; Matt Winkelmeyer/Getty Images Celebrity memoirs captivate readers with tales of glitz, glamour and ultimately, humanity. This was the exact question Kayla S. from Nashville asked in the most recent installment of Ask Us in the latest issue of Us Weekly , on newsstands now: How often do celebrities use ghostwriters for their memoirs? Well, the truth is: often! “Writing a book is hard! So if a famous person — meaning, famous for anything other than being a writer — puts out a book, the chances are extremely high that they had help,” Lisa Dickey , ghostwriter of over 20 titles including New York Times bestsellers like Patrick Swayze and Lisa Niemi ’s The Time of My Life and Jane Lynch ’s Happy Accidents , told Us Weekly . “There are a few celebrities who write their own books with only the...

Image
Hugh Jackman and ex-wife Deborra-Lee Furness are finding their rhythm after separating in 2023 — but it hasn’t been easy. “Hugh and Deborra-Lee’s separation has been stressful, hard and not fully amicable ,” a source exclusively reveals in the latest issue of Us Weekly , noting that the exes had disagreements about “certain” things after their split. Chelsea Handler Gets Real About Dating, Aging, Leaving 'Bad Behavior' Behind

Image
Chelsea Handler has been working her entire life. Her first gig, at age 10, was running a lemonade stand — she spiked her product, and the business did gangbusters. Then she moved on to childcare, babysitting a boy four years older than she was. As an adult, her tenacity and quest for financial independence brought an onslaught of jobs, including shows from the 2002–04 hidden-camera blast Girls Behaving Badly to the 2007–14 talker Chelsea Lately ; six New York Times bestsellers; a podcast; and multiple standup specials. She never stops hustling. And for the past decade, she’s been just as diligent in her private life, working hard on herself. Handler’s comedy has given her a reputation: brash, direct, sometimes maybe even obnoxious. But her seventh collection of essays, I’ll Have What She’s Having — which arrives on her 50th birthday, February 25 — reveals that the newest, truest version of Handler is kind, generous and seeking. “You want to get rid of the bad behavior that’s hur...
