Maks Chmerkovskiy Says He Would ‘Entertain’ an Offer to Return to ‘DWTS’
Maks Chmerkovskiy isn’t opposed to returning to the Dancing With the Stars ballroom one day.
“I want to remove all ego out of this. Yes, I will entertain the offer,” Chmerkovskiy, 46, exclusively told Us ahead of his and wife Peta Murgatroyd’s announcement of their return to the Burn the Floor tour. “Maybe not between March and May of next year because we’re going to be very busy with Burn the Floor.”
Chmerkovskiy added that his and Murgatroyd’s involvement with Burn the Floor will continue past their 2027 North American tour dates, essentially limiting their availability for a potential DWTS return.
“We have huge plans for Burn the Floor in upcoming time after this 2027 North American tour. So, it’s also possible that we’re not in a position to accept that anymore,” he said. “But I will entertain the offer.”

Chmerkovskiy was a pro on DWTS for 17 seasons, making his debut in 2006’s season 2. He made it to the finals five times and won the mirrorball once with Meryl Davis in season 18. Chmerkovskiy last competed on the series during season 25, which aired in 2017.
During his prime years on DWTS, Chmerkovskiy also performed in Burn the Floor. The dance production featured several DWTS pros. Chmerkovskiy joined the show in 2009 for its opening night on Broadway. Murgatroyd, 40, is also an alum of the production, where she and Chmerkovskiy first met. The couple, who share three children, gushed about how they “couldn’t be happier” to rejoin the production nearly two decades later.
“We’re excited to bring a brand stateside that was, you know, carrying the banner of dance for the last 20 years worldwide. They’ve done it all over, on every continent following the success of the 2009 Broadway run,” he told Us. “Burn the Floor is all over the world. And so, you know, to be a part of that back 20 years later, and also how special that this was where we met and how much connective tissue there is between Peta’s attachment to the show itself and mine. We couldn’t be happier. It’s a dream come true”
Murgatroyd added that the chance to return to the show was a “really special” feeling.
“I had always hoped that this call would come through one day, that Burn the Floor is coming back to America, I can join up again, we can go back to Broadway maybe,” she exclusively told Us. “But it just feels so surreal and just really special that we can do this again with the cast. It wouldn’t be the same cast, so to speak, like the same people, but it’s the crew.”

Murgatroyd teased that fans can expect a captivating experience with their Burn the Floor return.
“The show is gonna be electric,” she gushed. “We have an incredible curated cast of, like, international Latin and ballroom dance champions from all over the world coming together to make this into a spectacular show. It’s going to be so great.”
The Burn the Floor tour kicks off March 21, 2027 at the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts and continues through May 23, 2027, with an eight-performance engagement at the CAA Ed Mirvish Theatre in Toronto.
